- 1975 – October – Unity Headquarters was contacted by Eloise Cousins Henderson about getting support to establish a Unity church in Gainesville, Florida. Doris Green and Gwen Lindsley attended an organizational meeting for a Unity church in Panama City, Florida, where Rev. Loren Flickenger, Southeastern Regional Representative from Unity Village, was speaking. Doris and Gwen approached him about holding meetings in Gainesville and assist in forming a Unity group. He told them that he was already planning to go to Gainesville and it was his next stop. He came weekly to Gainesville for that purpose.
- 1976 - The organizational meeting met at the Holiday Inn. The Unity Study Group met at Gordon Glen Manor Apartments' conference room, SW 13th Street. On Thursday nights, Rev. Loren Flickenger rode his motorcycle from Tallahassee each week to lead the group. Press releases referred to the group as Unity Center of Gainesville. Gwen Lindsley served as first librarian (bookstore), hauling books in a cardboard box from home to the meetings every Thursday night.
- 1977 - Ann Hodge, a member of the group, invited everyone to meet at a building she owned on SW 2nd Avenue.

"AFTER GLOW"
I'D LIKE THE MEMORY OF ME TO BE A HAPPY ONE.
I'D LIKE TO LEAVE AN AFTER GLOW OF SMILES WHEN LIFE IS DONE.
I'D LIKE TO LEAVE AN ECHO WHISPERING SOFTLY DOWN THE WAYS,
OF HAPPY TIMES AND LAUGHING TIMES, AND BRIGHT AND SUNNY DAYS.
I'D LIKE THE TEARS OF THOSE WHO GRIEVE, TO DRY BEFORE THE SUN
OF HAPPY MEMORIES THAT I LEAVE WHEN LIFE IS DONE.
