The Rose Prayer Centre is a part of the Unity of Gainesville, Florida Prayer Ministry. It is comprised of Spirit-minded individuals who have volunteered to hold the sacred space of prayer for everyone who requests it for themselves or others. Prayer requests are confidential. Only those in the Prayer Ministry are given your information, unless you request otherwise or give permission. When you request a prayer by phone, text, or email, the coordinator receives the request and sends an email to the members of the Prayer Chain, including Silent Unity, all of whom then pray for these requests for the next 30 days. As part of the Prayer Ministry, Prayer Chaplains are available to pray with you individually and as a group at church before and after Sunday services and at special events.

  • Unity of Gainesville, Florida started as a study group in 1975 and was incorporated as a Unity church in 1984. Original members of the study group included Gwen Lindsley, who has served as teacher and Director of Youth and Family Ministry since our beginning.
  • The Unity of Gainesville, Florida Prayer Centre/Prayer Circle was founded in 1983 by Rose Aulenbach and Mary Vena, sisters of our first minister, Rev. Joseph Bettencourt. Rose and Mary coordinated the Unity of Gainesville, Florida prayer ministry for many years, until their transitions. Because Rose carried the responsibilities of the Prayer Centre for so many years after Mary transitioned, the Prayer Centre was renamed The Rose Prayer Centre.
  • Within 5 days of placing prayer requests in the Prayer Chest, 30-40 volunteers on the Prayer Chain received and held them in prayer for 30 days! Prayer requests were then sent to Silent Unity for an additional 30 days of prayer. When urgent prayer requests were received, all prayer chain volunteers PLUS Silent Unity began praying for you within 24 hours.
  • Letters of prayer support were sent, as well as birthday cards, get well cards, sympathy cards, and other appropriate cards. The Master Mind Prayer Circle met in the “Upper Room” every Sunday morning.
