The Music Ministry

Prior Music Director... 

Cathy DeWitt, musician, consultant, writer, and speaker, was also the Music Director at Unity of Gainesville for nearly twenty years, through several ministers including Sharon Connors, Julie Keene, Marciah McCartney and Stan McNeese.  She started in 1988 with Rev Joseph Bettencourt, and had a short stint during the late 90's (for 2 years) at Unity of Ocala and Oakbrook Life Enrichment Center (Ocala) before returning to Gainesville. 

Cathy traveled to many Unity and New Thought churches to bring back new songs and fresh ideas to share with the minister, guest speakers, and the choir.  She loved interweaving the music and message as seamlessly as possible, and used the music to add emotional impact to the message.

During holiday time, Cathy got the choir re-energized to make a joyful noise!

An eclectic professional musician, Cathy DeWitt has shared the stage and the airwaves with Pete Seeger, Garrison Keillor, jazz pianist Rob Bargad, New Thought artists Jana Stanfield, David Roth, and many more. A nationally published writer, producer, and award-winning songwriter, she is bandleader for the jazz quartet MoonDancer and the female folk/bluegrass band Patchwork, a favorite on the Florida festival circuit.
